Traditional Living and Survival Skills
with Michael Scott and Kelsi Cunniff
River Camp: Cardwell, Montana. April 1 - 11, 2018

Learning to start a bowdrill fire.

Join Michael Scott and Kelsi Cunniff for an eleven day intensive to become immersed in the skills of traditional living and basic outdoor survival. Students will come away with the ability to make friction fire, natural cordage, primitive trapping techniques, shelter building, and braintan basics. We will also focus on traditional crafts such as moccasin and sandal making, spoon carving, stone crafts, and wood burned bowls. In addition, students will learn basic permaculture gardening techniques through hands on experience - learn to build a compost pile, create water-retaining garden beds, apply mulch, and plant seeds. Come learn the basics of processing small mammals and fish along with traditional cooking and food preservation methods.

This is an intensive workshop where students will spend the majority of each day learning and practicing skills in a group setting with time in the evening for social activities around the campfire. There will be an optional solo expedition after the course to put new skills to the test in the wilderness.

Basic foods such as rice, beans, potatoes, and oatmeal will be provided. Bringing your own specialty items is welcome but not required. Cost: $400 per student. Register with a friend and both get a $50 discount!
